This weapon passes function check and appears fully functional. Also includes one after-market web sling without oiler. A light and handy carbine, sure to please all ages. I was a little tentative before buying this remake of the M1 Carbine from Inland. I read some so-so reviews on it, mostly complaining about jams and the feed ramps being too sharp (I.E. leading to misfeeds). Even with these reviews, I still really wanted a M1 .30cal and all its American history, and I decided to go for it.

I believe this Plainfield M1 Carbine is unfired and was produced between 1962 and 1963. I found No Carbon deposits in the Receiver, Barrel, or Walnut Stock. The owner passed away. It is S/N G228 and is number 7,015 in production. M1 CARBINE M4 BAYONET US GI NEW IN BOX. US GI M4 bayonet with leather handle for the M1 Carbine. New in the original military box. As you can see on the pictures the metal rivets and snaps on the scabbard show some slight corrosion due to the long term storage. We have some PAL with early M8 and a few Utica with early M8A1.

You can buy a registered receiver. Or you can find a C&R M2 Carbine. For a shooter, the M1 with registered trigger group is probably the best way to go. Followed by post war after market registered receiver like the Planefield or Iver Johnson M2's. Then you get into the Military conversions and the C&R versions.

M1 Carbines are elegant and just more funner compared to the heavy, ungainly, commie SKS’ (I own and enjoy both). I agree. But if cost is an issue and steel and wood in a fairly traditional semi auto rifle are requirements, an SKS is handy enough, can be made to feed from AK mags, and leave a healthy budget for ammo in a powerful enough cartridge.

One like this would be a decent choice for a reasonable priced shooter. U.S.G.I. carbines are by far the best way to go if you can afford one.

The only rifles manufactured by Plainfield Machine were their models based on the M1 Carbine. Handgun calibers were reported as either revolvers, or pistols in calibers 22, 25, 32, 380, 9mm, and 45. As Plainfield did not manufacture any .32 caliber semi-automatic pistols it is suspected these numbers represent the .30 caliber Enforcer models.
